This week’s topics: Games Director News Worthing lunch 6 Nations lunches Forum meeting Richmonds Got Talent John Smith Results Hard to believe that a week ago we were covered in snow, but as forecast this all disappeared in time for last weekends games which all went ahead according to plan for which every one was very grateful! This Saturday (23rd January) the FIRST XV return home to play old rivals Henley KO 3pm. The pre match Vice Presidents lunch is full so I am afraid we are unable to take any further bookings. Our thanks go to match sponsors, Feltonpumphrey, Chartered Accountants, who may have gone through a few name changes since we began our association but whose service to us has continued to be of the best. If you or your company need a firm of accountants look no further and click here for more information. Another stalwart supporter has been match ball sponsor Zisman Bowyer & Partners, Consulting Engineers (click here) , and we look forward to welcoming David Saffin and his colleagues to the day. ZBP are responsible for the branch office at Twickenham so deserve added thanks for this much appreciated attraction. to read further click title

The COLTS finally played their postponed National Plate Competition game against Westcombe Park last Sunday and won 22 – 11 so taking them through to the next round. This to be played at Winchester this coming Sunday KO 2pm. Many congratulations to all the boys, coaches and managers involved and good luck on Sunday. A busy weekend for YOUTH games – U16 v Reeds away, U15A v Dorking away, U15B v Rosslyn Park at home KO 12pm, U14A v Esher away, U14B v Effingham away, U13A v London Irish away, U13B v Effingham away, U13C v Pinner at home KO 12pm MINIS are away en masse at Esher except for the Under 6s who will be training at home normal time 9.30am to 11am DIRECTOR NEWS Andy Cuthbert has recently and with regret tendered his resignation as a Club Director of Richmond Football Club Ltd due to increasing pressures of work, a recent move of house and a growing family. We are indebted for the enormous amount of time and advice that Andy has given over the last 3 ½ years, to say nothing of his career as player and 1st XV/Club captain. We are delighted that he is still to be seen regularly at the Club on both Saturdays and Sundays, However, we are also very pleased that he has agreed to continue as a Director of the Richmond Athletic Association Ltd where his experience in the field of facilities management is of invaluable benefit. The Club will obviously be seeking nominations for his replacement as a Club Director at the next AGM and these nominations should be sent to Andrew Gordon by April 30th with the agreement of the candidate proposed. WORTHING LUNCH Next Saturday 30th January the FIRST XV are away to Worthing who advise that they are planning to have a pre-match lunch at 12.15pm and would be delighted to entertain any supporters for a small charge of £20.00 per person (including programme & gate entry). Those that were at the Richmonds Got Talent contest in December will tell you what an enjoyable and lively affair it was and I recommend visiting the website to see the photos - click here JOHN SMITH It is with great regret that I have to report the death this week of John Smith who was the Manager of the Richmond Mini/Youth Class of 1992 and long time club supporter. For those of us who were privileged to know him he was one of life’s positive and optimistic forces and he will be sadly missed. Our deepest sympathy goes to Hilary and family who wish to invite all friends to his funeral which is to take place next Wednesday 27th January at St Anne’s Church, Kew Green at 2pm and afterwards at Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club.
