On Sunday the only WOMENS game is the 3rd XV who are away to Supermarine. The rest are once more involved in International duties and just to let you know that last weekend England Women (6 Richmond players) defeated Wales 31 – 0 whilst England A (4 Richmond players) beat the Nomads (4 Richmond players) 12 – 10. Many congratulations to all. On Sunday the only YOUTH game is U15 v London Scottish. MINIS are training at home normal time 9.30am to 11.30am although I suspect that as half term has arrived numbers will be down as boys and parents take to the ski slopes. RICHMOND UNDER 11s AT TWICKENHAM I am delighted to report that after 100 years honour was restored last Saturday when our Under 11s soundly beat Quins at Twickenham before the England game. Many congratulations to the boys for flying the Richmond flag so proudly and who obviously provided the inspiration that England needed to beat Wales. Check out the photos by clicking here RICHMONDS GOT TALENT/ DISCO I am afraid to say that we have had to postpone the show due to take place this coming Saturday (13th Feb) due to illness and various other factors so put away your dancing shoes and watch this space for details of the rearranged fixture. CHARITY NEWS Messagebase and Help For Heroes A big thank you from Andrew Wright and club sponsors Messagebase to all those that partook of their sponsored lunch before last weeks game and who so generously supported the silent auction of the Help For Heroes book The Hero Inside and raised £380. A fantastic effort and greatly appreciated. England Legends v Ireland Legends Match Friday 26th February On the evening of Friday 26th February the inaugural England Legends v Ireland Legends match for the Stuart Mangan Memorial Cup is being held at The Stoop in Twickenham The Legends charity match, a fundraiser for paralysed rugby players, will provide the perfect opener to a great weekend of rugby with the Six Nations clash the following day. The Legends game will see some of the big names of English and Irish rugby go head-to-head one more time, with those involved including Shane Byrne, Martin Corry, Rob Henderson, Jason Robinson, David Humphreys, Mike Catt, Richard Wallace, Josh Lewsey, Conor O'Shea, Jason Leonard and Peter Clohessy, to name but a few. After the game there will be plenty of entertainment - bands playing in the main bar and plenty of food and drinks to be had to make a great night of it. Corporate hospitality is also available for those who would be interested. The game was conceived to raise money for Stuart Mangan, who was paralysed from the high neck following a rugby accident whilst playing for Hammersmith & Fulham RFC in April 2008. Stuart required 24hour medical care for his every basic need, and The Stuart Mangan Appeal was launched to fundraise with patrons including Keith Wood, Ronan O'Gara and Jason Leonard. Stuart sadly passed away in August 2009 having contracted pneumonia, but his family have chosen for the match to go ahead in his memory and to raise necessary funds to support other injured players. With this in mind, the beneficiary charities from the proceeds of the Legends game are Keith Wood's Paralysed Rugby Players' Fund, The Matt Hampson Trust and the IRFU Charitable Trust. Matt Hampson suffered a similar accident to Stuart whilst training with England U-21s and provided friendship and support to Stuart. The Legends game is kindly sponsored by the Byrne Group and ValidusRe, so 100% of the funds raised will go to these deserving charities. Tickets can be purchased (£10 for adults and £5 for kids) by clicking here where you will also find information on the teams and Corporate Hospitality contacts. AN UNUSUAL REQUEST The coaches from the Minis to the First XV are in search of car/suv tyres as they are apparently a fantastic scrummaging tool so if you happen to have some in your back garden, as you do, or know of a friendly garage who would be happy to dispose of some second hand tyres then please contact Mark Matzopoulos on
