RFC Holiday Camp U6-U12 and beyond

We may be in the close season and life a tad quieter but our preparations for the new season progress apace.
Pre season training is into its second week with about 70 players attending each session so the coaches are definitely finding the summer far from quiet. But it is very positive to see, with the quality of players attending extremely high which bodes well for the season ahead at all levels.
The pre season training camp will take place over a long weekend at the beginning of August after which we will be able to let you know all about the new (and old!) stars.

First XV Fixtures
The First XV fixtures have been announced and are on the website but I would just flag up that there may be several amendments as there are currently 7 clashes with London Scottish (don’t ask, the RFU strike again!) which are in the course of being resolved. Watch this space!

Cyril Shaw
I regret to advise you that Cyril Shaw, who master minds the referees for the club and has been a member for more years than he cares to remember, suffered a stroke recently but I am please to report that he is back home and we send him our best wishes and wish him a speedy recovery.

Members Charity Fund Raising
A special thanks from Laura Jenkins to all those that sponsored her Snowdon Push in aid of the Back Up Trust. The event raised £50K which is a magnificent effort.

Not to be outdone by her fellow player, new women’s player Rebekah Wigton is doing the London Triathlon at the end of the month which is an Olympic distance triathlon consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40km (about 25 mile) bike and a 10km (6.2 mile) run.  She is struggling to raise the £500 she pledged for the Brain Research Trust which is a lovely London based charity which funds much needed research into some of the 250 brain and neurological diseases and conditions that affect over 2 million people so if you would like to help then please visit her charity donation websites http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RebekahWigton or http://www.justgiving.com/RebekahTris2Tri

Holiday Camps for Under 6s to Under 12s (and above if sufficient interest)
The school holidays have already started for many so a reminder of the summer training camp. It will take place on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th August and will be even bigger and better than before. Run by James Brooks, First XV player and coach and aided and abetted by our very charismatic and inspirational Director of Rugby, Steve Hill, the focus will be on preparing the boys/girls for the new season ahead.
Numbers are looking good but there is still capacity so please do get in touch asap if you wish to book
The cost is £25/day/child (siblings get a 10% discount) with a discount for 3 days of £70. You can come for one day or all three - we do something different every day. You do not have to be a Richmond member as the camp is open to all boys and girls so friends are very welcome.
Registration is at 9.30am and a packed lunch will be needed plus plenty of drinks as well as clothing suitable to the weather (hopefully that means you will need sun cream) and boots and trainers plus mouth guards where necessary. Collection is at 3.30pm.
To book a place please contact Jen or Carly on 020 8332 7112 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
