Richmond v Barnes – Fri 16th Dec KO 8pm
Tomorrow Friday 16th December the FIRST XV play the last game of our 150th year when we meet local rivals Barnes at home KO 8pm. This will be a worthy end to such an auspicious year and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible supporting your team who have provided us with such exciting rugby in the first half of the season.
Our thanks go to Captain Tom George and all the players who perform so magnificently week in and week out, not only in the First XV but in every team, and give us so much pleasure and so much to talk about! And that of course includes all our women players (currently sitting top of the league after beating Saracens last Sunday I am delighted to report), not to mention the 600 odd youth and minis that fill our Sundays and are represented tomorrow by the Under 11s who weather permitting will provide a curtain raiser and clap on to the big boys game. Our grass roots are very sturdy!
The bars and canteen will of course be open tomorrow and the whole evening will be Christmas party time with mince pies, mulled wine, Christmas music etc etc - and we hope to see a few santas in the crowd as well.
Remember that as a special Christmas treat we are offering a discount to members who can bring along a friend for half price match entrance.
The pre match Christmas supper is a sell out which is great news as long as you have booked in!
I would mention that as the Members Bar will be full of over 150 diners, pre supper drinking will be in the Sports Bar and all those that are not dining will be asked to drink in the Sports Bar during supper to help the caterers who will be trying to clear plates etc etc
Weekend Fixtures
On Saturday the SAXONS and HEAVIES are at home to Barnes II and tba respectively both KO 2pm whilst the BARBARIANS are away to Barnes III also KO 2pm.
The VIKINGS and NORMANS are already in Christmas mode
On Sunday it is another big day for the women when both the WOMEN 1st XV and WOMEN 2nd XV face Wasps at home KO 2.15pm and 2pm respectively. All support would be most welcome I know as if the firsts win this game then a third premiership title is looking good.
YOUTH games: U14A v Tonbridge at home KO 11 am
MINIS are away at Wasps and the Under 6s are getting ready for Christmas
Richmond U21/Students
As the University players return this week, our Under 21s are in action on Sunday when they play London Irish away KO 2pm in the Surrey U21 Cup Competition. Again all support would be much appreciated – and they know how to keep a good pint of Guinness at Irish!
The students will be in action for the traditional New Year game against London Scottish, this year being played on Monday 2nd January KO 2.30pm to enable London Scottish supporters to make the long trip back from Leeds Carnegie where their First XV are playing on January 1st – the joys of Championship rugby!
Christmas Club Shop opening hours
