This Saturday 14th January the FIRST XV entertain Taunton at home KO 3pm and if you can come and support the lads at their first home game of the New Year, I know it will be much appreciated.
There are a few spaces left at the usual pre match lunch but if you wish to book a place I need to know by return please. The cost is £22/head for a 3 course meal and does not include match entrance.
The Match Ball Sponsors for the match are old friends and valued sponsors Zisman Bowyer Partnership, Consulting Engineers (click here for further information). They provide a huge amount of support to Richmond, not only in terms of the obvious such as the ‘branch office’ car which gives comfort and succour to so many on International match days at Twickenham, but also in their invaluable help in replacing the Old Pavilion boiler in the summer not to mention employing a certain well known First XV player, Tom Drewe who is in the squad for Saturday’s match. Our thanks go to David Saffin who is definitely the ‘main man’ and we are delighted to welcome him and his colleagues to the day.
It promises to be a very lively one on Saturday as all the men’s senior teams are at home: VIKINGS v Cinderford II KO 2pm, SAXONS v London Irish Amateurs II KO 1pm, NORMANS v Rosslyn Park Hatters KO 2pm, and BARBARIANS v Effingham & Leatherhead KO 2pm.
The HEAVIES are preparing themselves for their first game of 2012 next week.
On Sunday the WOMEN are all away; the WOMEN 1st XV v Bristol, the WOMEN 2nd XV v Bath and the WOMEN 3rd XV v Rosslyn Park
YOUTH games: U17B v Windsor at home KO 12pm, U14B v Wimbledonians away
MINIS are all training at home at the usual time.
Andy Quigley
I am delighted to report that Andy Quigley is making excellent progress after his recent operation and all his friends at Richmond send their best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Another 2012 Date for the Diary
As well as the dates advised last week for the Forum Meeting, Monday 30th January and the revised AGM date, Tuesday 19th June, I can confirm that the 2012 RFC Golf Day will be taking place on Wednesday 16th May at Leatherhead Golf Club (Kingston Road, Leatherhead). The format will be a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford competition with a 9.30am start followed by a buffet lunch, a Q & A session and prize giving. Further details will follow but this is the first call to put the date in your diary.
RFC 300 Club
A reminder that we are still trying to convert this into the 350 Club!
2 numbers cost as little as £6/month and with the current monthly first prize over £200, that is not a bad potential return on your money – for further details and how to join click here
Please do support this initiative as the money raised is used to support rugby at every level at Richmond but especially youth rugby, and in fact the cost of the new set of shirts needed by our U13s this season has already been funded by the 300 Club.
Calling all Learner drivers
If you are a young Richmond player/member thinking of taking your driving test, or you know someone who is, then this may be for you. One of our members is a qualified driving instructor and is happy to offer RFC members the first hour’s tuition free if a block of 10 lessons is booked. For further details contact Tim Wilson on 07900 245274.
