The Board of Richmond FC today announces the position of Director of Rugby is being made redundant. This means after 13 years’ service Steve Hill will be leaving the club with immediate effect.
Nick Preston, speaking on behalf of the club, said ‘The debt that the club owes Steve is immense. To have gained promotion to the Championship not once but twice is an achievement that speaks for itself and is very much due to Steve’s knowledge and leadership. It is an outstanding legacy to have left and although we deeply regret the necessity for Steve’s departure we wish him and Christine every success in his new future and offer him our heartfelt thanks for his drive and commitment over the last 13 years and for everything he has done for all sections of Richmond FC.’
Steve Hill commented ‘It has been an honour and privilege to work at Richmond FC. I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved during my time here. To have gone from losing our first game away at Southend to beating the likes of Ealing and Jersey in Championship league matches is some journey, and I believe achieved in the right way. I would like to thank all my fellow coaches, staff, board members and especially the players for their help and support. Along the way some tremendous memories and friendships have been created and I believe that is what our wonderful game is about. I look forward to my next role in rugby wherever and with whoever that may be.
