Nic speaks about the team and season ahead of Friday night against Rams.

As we approach the final three games of the season, it’s a testament to the players and their relentless drive that we sit at the top of the table. Both the forwards and backs have been instrumental in getting us here.

One of the standout moments of the season was reaching the halfway point without conceding a driving maul try - an incredible achievement, considering how many teams rely on penalties and kicking to the corner to build pressure. The forwards have shown immense resilience in dealing with these situations, and even our nines have stepped up when needed in this area - now that gets me excited.

Our defensive structure has been key, minimising cheap penalties and making it difficult for opponents to break us down. The forwards, in particular, have been a dream to work with, with leadership running through the pack. Jake Monson, Sam Pim, and Toby Saysall have set the standard, and when you add the likes of Jimmy Litchfield and the presence of Goffey, Freeman, and Bevaqua (before his injury), we have a formidable unit. Benson has been outstanding at the breakdown, while Pim and Nugent have led the charge in carrying, consistently getting us over the gain line. Strength and depth have been a huge asset this year, making selection tough week in and week out. One thing I know about this group is that they thrive under pressure.

Friday night’s game against Rams will be like no other. We will prepare as we always do, keeping the focus on our performance - because if we get that right, the result will take care of itself. Rams are a strong side and showed their quality last week, so they’ll be eager to make a statement by beating the league leaders.

Expect an intense contest at the breakdown - Rams pride themselves on securing small wins in this area. Our performance against Plymouth proved we can dominate here, and we’ll need to replicate that effort. Their set-piece is also a real strength, so handling them at the scrum and lineout will be crucial.

The stage is set for a massive encounter, and I have no doubt our squad will rise to the occasion.
