Richmond Rugby and Richmond Athletic Ground Events (RAG Events) have strengthened their commercial department with the appointment of Richard Castle as the new Group Commercial Manager.
Richard joins Richmond with a wealth of experience in sponsorship sales, delivering events and partnership campaigns and client servicing from his 25+ years in the publishing industry working for companies such as the Telegraph Media Group and BOAT International Media.
Richard is also an avid rugby follower, having coached minis and youth rugby at Wimbledon RFC for over 10 years where his two sons play, as well as being one of the club’s two Tacklesafe Champions and an active member of the club’s Management Committee.
Richard will report into Jimmy Wallace as CEO and Group Commercial Director, and is tasked with bringing in new business and increased footfall to the facility, in particular maximising the commercial opportunity around our recently refurbished rooms in the clubhouse and sourcing new sponsorship partners for the club.
Jimmy Wallace commented, “We had nearly 100 applications for this position, and once we had established a shortlist to interview, it soon became very evident from the interview process that Richard was the stand-out candidate and the unanimous choice of the panel. Richard joined us last week and has already made an immediate impact in improving our websites and methods of communication and I really hope that our membership will support Richard as he looks to implement new initiatives in the coming weeks and months.”
Richard Castle said, “The opportunity to work at Richmond Rugby came not only at the perfect time but blends together all the things I love doing: helping our kids and young adults develop a lifelong love of this great game, pulling together great partnerships and delivering fantastic experiences for brands and businesses. I look forward to helping Richmond Rugby grow both its rugby business and events space over the coming months and years.”
