Richmond’s Minis enjoyed a morning of festive fun at the Richmond Athletic Ground on Sunday, as they came together for a festive training session ahead of the Christmas break.
After a normal Sunday training session, the annual Santa Dash got underway, with over 150 Minis taking part. Christmas hats at the ready, the challenge saw players hunt for the letters to spell ‘Santa’, hidden amongst the Christmas trees around the ground, all with the chance to win a free Christmas tree, kindly donated by Pines and Needles.
The Santa Dash also had a heartwarming ending, with Fiach from the U11s winning the Christmas tree and kindly donating it to someone who needed it, having already received one.
Once the dash was complete, everyone was treated to a well-earned festive buffet before the celebrations continued inside the Murray Judd Bar. With Christmas songs filling the room, arts and crafts stations set up for the Minis, and a Christmas kit sale taking place, the club embraced the holiday spirit.
Unlike previous years, the weather played its part too, making for a bright and enjoyable morning that capped off another brilliant block of Minis rugby.
Minis Chair Laura Martin said, “The Santa Dash and Christmas party went really well. We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day, and it was such a great way to bring everyone together in the build-up to Christmas. Seeing so many Minis, parents and volunteers enjoying themselves really sums up what the club is about. The atmosphere was brilliant, and it was fantastic to share such a positive, festive morning with everyone involved. A big thank you to all those who came along and to everyone who helped make the day happen.”
One parent from the U5’s also praised the event, adding “The Christmas Minis party was fantastic, so inclusive and plenty of fun for all the kids- crafts, a Santa dash, all the snacks. What’s not to love! Thanks to all the fantastic organisers, you guys are amazing”
A huge thank you goes to Pines and Needles for supporting the Santa Dash once again. Pines and Needles are located in the car park at the Richmond Athletic Ground.
