Richmond Rugby AGM 2026 Results

Josh Carpenter12 Jun - 15:00

Richmond Rugby held its Annual General Meeting in the Murray Judd Bar at the Richmond Athletic Ground on Tuesday evening.

More than 40 members attended the meeting and were welcomed by Chairman Nick Preston.

The evening began with an update from Richmond Football Club Ltd (RFCL) Chairman Nick Preston, reflecting on the progress made across the Club during his tenure over the past three years. Outgoing Finance Director Ali Law then did the same, before Head of Rugby Rob Powell delivered a rugby update, highlighting developments across the playing programme and outlining plans for the season ahead.

Members then heard from incoming Chairman Jim Darragh, who addressed the Club for the first time in his new role and shared his thoughts on the strategy and opportunities ahead for Richmond Rugby.

During the formal part of the meeting, members were informed of a number of changes to the Club's leadership and governance structure.

Following three years as Chairman, Nick Preston concluded his tenure and stepped down from the role. During his time as Chairman, Nick has played a significant role in helping to guide the Club through a period of positive progress, supporting the continued development of rugby and Club operations. Nick thanked the Board for their support and particularly those also stepping down, Mark Brewer and Rebecca Singleton.

Members formally welcomed Jim Darragh as the new Chairman of Richmond Football Club Ltd (RFCL). Jim will lead the Board as the Club continues to build on recent progress across all sections of the Club.

There was also a change in the Club Presidency, with James Foster concluding his three-year tenure as President. Throughout his time in office, James has been a valued ambassador for the Club and a strong supporter of Richmond Rugby both on matchdays and within the wider rugby community. Often attending both women's and men's fixtures he has probably seen more games than most!

Jim Kottler was formally appointed as the Club's new President and will take up the role ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Club extends its heartfelt thanks to Nick and James for their service, commitment and contribution over the past three years.

The AGM also saw a number of changes at RFCL Board level, with members approving the following appointments and recognising the service of those stepping down from the Board.

  • Club Director 2026/27 - Rowena Mallaghan
  • Club Director 2026/27 – James Foster

The Club would like to thank all members who attended the AGM and for their continued support of Richmond Rugby.
