Neil knows the Club inside out, having been involved for over 20 years as a player, volunteer coach, trustee and Board Director. Neil had stepped in as interim CEO at the end of February.
Outside of the Club, Neil has had a very successful business career, leading international financial service businesses as well as running his own business.
Nick Preston, Richmond Rugby Chairman, said: “This appointment followed a second formal selection process, involving a list of 40 applicants that was reduced to a shortlist of four. All four shortlisted candidates were interviewed by myself and Wim Bushell.”
“Neil was the stand-out choice. In his short tenure as interim CEO, he has already made a significant impact, galvanising the Club behind a strategic vision. He is a very well-respected individual and has the wholehearted support of the Board.”
Speaking on his appointment, Neil Darke said: “I am grateful to Nick, Wim and the Board for this opportunity. I love this Club and it is a great honour to have been asked to lead Richmond Rugby, rugby’s original club. I couldn’t be more excited that with a brilliant team around me, we can write a new glorious chapter in this historic Club’s story.”
“I look forward to meeting sponsors and members at ‘The Season Ahead’ evening at the Club on Thursday 12th September where I will outline the Club’s exciting long-term strategic plan, which we have been working on for the past few months.”
