Richmond Rugby’s Autumn Minis Festival Brings Thousands To The RAG

On Sunday, over 3,500 people stepped foot into the Richmond Athletic Ground for one of the club’s biggest community events of the year – the Autumn Minis Festival. With around 2000 young players, from Under 7s to Under 11s, taking to the pitches, it was a day full of energy and smiles.

The morning began under blazing autumn sunshine, with 150+ teams from across the region arriving bright and early. As matches kicked off, the grounds quickly filled with the sound of cheering parents, and the smell of fresh coffee and BBQ drifting through the air.

George Nugent, Co-Head of Community at Richmond Rugby, said:
“It was an amazing day for the club with over 2000 kids taking part and around 3,500 people on site. It was a great spectacle to see the club this busy. We’re really excited for our next festival in March.”

Laura Martin, Richmond Rugby Minis Chair, added:
“Yesterday at the RAG was lots of fun! It was such a joy to see so many kids here with their families and friends enjoying the games. For many of the U7s, it was their very first festival, and they had a great time. Staff and volunteers from across the club worked so hard to make it all happen. It’s a huge operation, but we had lots of happy children enjoying their rugby in beautiful autumn sunshine.”

Teddington RFC one of the visiting clubs shared their thoughts:
“On behalf of all of us from Teddington, a big thank you for a wonderfully organised festival. Cheers Richmond.”

The day marked one of the most successful Minis Festivals Richmond Rugby has ever hosted, showcasing the club’s community and dedication. The next Minis Festival will take place on Sunday 1st March 2026, and sign-ups will be available soon. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the RAG.
