While the curtain has fallen on the Richmond Women’s 2024/25 season, the rugby action is far from over for many of our players, who continue to represent at both county and international level.
Catherine Teyssier has been called up to the Swiss national side and will compete for the Switzerland 7s team at the Women's 7s Trophy Series 2025 on 6-7th June in Makarska, Croatia. The Swiss team will play in Pool A and will take on Finland, Türkiye, and Slovakia. This is a fantastic achievement for Catherine and a testament to her continued development and impact on the pitch.
Meanwhile, back on English soil, several Richmond players have been making waves in the Gill Burns County Championship – Division 3. Selina Keppie took on a leadership role, vice-captaining the Middlesex Women’s side from fly-half in their 51-17 victory over Essex. She was joined on the field by fellow Richmond player Claudia Yu, who packed down at number eight in a strong team performance. The win sees Middlesex progress to the semi-finals but first they face Sussex on 1st June in the next group stage of the competition.
Also representing in the Gill Burns County Championship were Jay Badland-Shaw and Becci de Garston-Webb, who featured for Surrey in their fixture against Buckinghamshire. Despite a committed performance, the match ended in a 53-17 win for Buckinghamshire. Samm Hart has also worn the Surrey jersey, starting at scrum-half in their previous fixture against Warwickshire.
It’s brilliant to see so many of our players continuing to showcase their skills at representative level – whether flying the flag for their country or contributing to their counties. We’re proud of their achievements and are looking forward to seeing them back in the Richmond colours next season.
