This weekend we are set to host Caldy for Round 14 clash in the Champ.
We look forward to seeing all our supporters back as we enter the second half of the season following a well-deserved two-week break from matches. We would like to extend our welcome to Caldy, including all their players, staff, supporters, and directors.
We were frustrated to lose by a point to London Scottish in the match on 3rd January. It was a bumper crowd, and we were overwhelmed by the huge support that turned out and cheered on the team. We knew it would be tough given the number of injuries we had in key positions and the strength of Scottish, bolstered by their partnership with Harlequins. We fought hard and were proud of the players and the comeback that nearly led to us winning the game. Sport is about key moments and plays, and unfortunately, on the day, Scottish just won a few more of those key moments.
We are excited for the challenge of the second half of the season. We knew promotion and Champ rugby would be a challenge. We have equipped ourselves well and competed hard. Our aim is to turn more of those performances into points, and points into wins. There are some key areas we will be focusing on to improve, and if we make some marginal gains, we will put ourselves in a good position to meet our objectives.
Also around the club, our Saxons play against CS Stags on pitch 2 at 13:30, and the Normans are hosting an Oxford University team, so please do come along and watch.
Our Vikings play away at Esher in the league; they are still sitting top of their league.
On Sunday, our Women’s first team travels away to Bath after celebrating another very dominant win against Thurrock here at home, and the Valkyries will be away to Chobham.
As usual, we will have our busy mini and youth training here on Sunday morning, with U12’s playing London Scottish at home in the cup.
We wish all those running out in a Richmond shirt this weekend the best of luck.
Enjoy the rugby,
Rob
