The Richmond Heavies Foundation Funds Heart Screening for 60 Richmond Players

Josh Carpenter

-

Just a day before The Richmond Heavies Foundation Lunch raised over £60,000, 60 Richmond Rugby players received cardiac screening, demonstrating how the Foundation’s fundraising supports the health and wellbeing of our rugby community.

Youth and senior players attended the session on Thursday 1 October, delivered in partnership with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and fully funded by The Richmond Heavies Foundation. Players received ECG heart health checks, with an on-site consultant available for those who required further examination.

Richard Holman, Chairman of The Richmond Heavies Foundation, said: “Seeing 60 players pass through the screening process in one evening is fantastic. Those who required further examination were dealt with by a consultant on site.

“I would encourage all players and parents of a playing member aged over 14 to ensure they take up the screening option in November.”

A second screening session will take place in November to ensure relevant players are up to date with their heart screening. Bookings will be coordinated through team managers.

Thank you to The Richmond Heavies Foundation, CRY and everyone whose generosity helps make this important programme possible.
