Valkyries Go Unbeaten to Secure Promotion to National Challenge 1

Freya Portway2 Apr - 10:20

League winners. Unbeaten. Promoted.

The Valkyries have delivered a season to remember, defined by dominance, resilience and a relentless attacking edge that secured promotion and an unbeaten league campaign.

From the first whistle to the final fixture, the Valkyries set the standard. Finishing as league winners, undefeated, and earning promotion to National Challenge 1, they leave no doubt about their quality and consistency across the season.

The numbers underline their dominance. Across all competitions (Cup and League), the Valkyries ran in an incredible 158 tries and 56 conversions, amassing 905 points across the season.

Their attacking rugby also proved unstoppable, overwhelming opposition with pace, precision and creativity. At the heart of this success was a group of players who consistently delivered, among them Charlotte D’Halluin (18), Amanda Neivens (16) and Amber Perry-Jordan (15).

Charlotte D’Halluin’s standout campaign saw her finish as the Valkyries’ leading try scorer and prove her skill and determination to earn a place in the 1st XV squad.

Atlanta Jobson’s impact has also been impressive. Joining midway through the season, she quickly became a key contributor. She also showed great sportsmanship by scoring a try for the opposition while helping them field a full side during an injury-hit fixture.

Samm Hart led the way with the boot, finishing as the top conversion kicker with 33 conversions across the season.

Lead Coach Fraser MacDonald-Lister, in his first season leading the Valkyries after stepping up from a playing role, highlighted the spirit behind the success:

“Transitioning from player to Valkyries lead coach has made me fall in love with rugby again. Our players are passionate, driven, and determined to be the best. They have gone undefeated in the league, scoring 905 points from 14 games, and now turn their attention to the national cup.

The Valkyries’ self-belief has grown steadily throughout the season, amplified by the positive feedback they receive from the 1XV at training. I feel privileged to coach the team and I’m excited to see what they can achieve in the cup run through April and May.”

From a side that once struggled to field a team to one now competing for places and securing top spot in the league, the women’s section continues to thrive. With both the 1st XV and Valkyries pushing towards a final at Twickenham, the future looks incredibly promising for the women’s section.
