Richmond head to Worcester this weekend for a Round 10 meeting with fellow league newcomers Worcester Warriors, a sizeable challenge in one of the Championship’s premier venues. Sixways’ 12,000-seat arena and a Warriors side sitting second in the table present a formidable away assignment. Worcester arrive in strong form with five consecutive wins and, having enjoyed back-to-back fixtures on home soil, will take confidence from the continuity and conditions.
Richmond, meanwhile, make the trip with purpose. Despite last week’s result against Ampthill at the RAG, the group remains energised by the opportunity to perform on a major stage and keen to show progress. The squad sits twelfth but carries clear determination to convert effort into points and regain upward momentum.
The numbers support that intent. Richmond’s defence has been consistently resilient throughout the campaign, turning each contest into a genuine battle for territory and scoring opportunities. After nine rounds, they rank third in the league for offloads with 80 and second for defenders beaten, underlining their ability to stretch defences when the game opens up.
With the scale of the challenge matched by the ambition within the group, Richmond travel to Sixways focused on delivering a performance that drives them forward in the Championship race.
Head-to-Head: Luke Frost vs Tim Anstee
One of the compelling sub-plots of this weekend’s trip to Worcester is the physical battle up front, where Richmond’s Luke Frost faces a stern test against Warriors back-row powerhouse Tim Anstee.
Frost’s return from a three-month injury layoff has immediately bolstered Richmond’s forward platform. Since coming back into the side against Hartpury, he’s made a significant impact in the engine room, topping the battle stats last week with 61 key involvements – a combination of carries, tackles, positive post-tackle efforts and effective hits at attacking rucks. That sort of work exemplifies his importance in Richmond’s high-intensity forward strategy, especially in contact. Frost arrived at the RAG in the summer from Bedford Blues, where he was a central figure in a strong Champ pack, and brings further pedigree from his time with Northampton Saints. At 6ft 6 and built for attrition, he gives Richmond a crucial presence in tight exchanges, maul defence, and close-quarter collisions.
Opposite him, Tim Anstee arrives at Worcester with a background that spans international sevens and professional rugby. The Australia-born flanker represented Australia Sevens in more than 20 tournaments before moving into Super Rugby with the Western Force. After four seasons there and a successful stint in Major League Rugby with Rugby FC LA, he linked up with Worcester for the 2025/26 Championship campaign. Anstee’s athletic profile, strong in the carry, disruptive around the breakdown and highly mobile, was on show in Worcester’s recent attacking performances, including a dominant second-half display against Cambridge where he featured prominently in a wide-running, try-scoring onslaught, earning himself a 9.9 Oval Insights score which was the highest of the round and season so far.
This round sees Frost’s physical engine, consistently hitting contact, aggressive at ruck time and anchoring midfield drives, matched against Anstee’s explosive carry threat and breakdown presence. Both players thrive in high-tempo collisions and quick ball scenarios, making their duel up front a key subplot in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter at Sixways.
