Richmond are on the road this weekend as Round 2 of the Elior Champ Rugby season takes us to Vallis Way to face Ealing Trailfinders on Sunday afternoon.
It will be Richmond’s first Sunday fixture of the campaign, with kick-off scheduled for 2:00pm, as attention quickly turns to another tough test in the opening stages of the new season.
Following last weekend’s season opener at the Richmond Athletic Ground, Richmond now make the short journey across West London looking to build into the campaign against familiar opposition.
Ealing Trailfinders have established themselves as one of the strongest sides in the Champ in recent seasons, making Vallis Way one of the toughest away trips on the calendar. Richmond will therefore know they will need to be at their best across the 80 minutes as they look to produce a strong performance away from home.
The two sides are no strangers to one another, with the West London fixture providing another competitive encounter early in the new campaign.
With Round 2 arriving just over a week after the opening fixture, it is another opportunity for Richmond’s new-look squad to continue building combinations and momentum as the season begins to take shape.
Paddy Case takes the reins as captain this weekend, with Jared Cardew stepping up as vice-captain following his Player of the Match performance in the season opener against Ampthill.
Richmond will now look to take the positives from Round 1 into Sunday’s contest as they prepare for their first away test of the new campaign.
