Bike Ride for Charity
In April 2012, a group of overweight Wharfedale RUFC ex-players cycled from Cambridge to Wharfedale to tie in with the match between the two clubs and raised £5,000 for Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue.
This year, they are taking on the longer challenge of cycling 260 miles from Richmond’s rugby ground to Wharfedale to raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Led by Robert Fort, the cycling team comprises 6 Wharfedale supporters with back up van driver and Robert’s wife Alison in charge of food and first aid.
They will be at the Athletic Ground for a photo-shoot on the evening of 24 April and will then set off, aiming to arrive at Wharfedale’s picturesque ground in time for kick-off on 27 April.
Any Richmond members making the long trip are encouraged to give them a big cheer (and a big cheque!) when they arrive in the ground. This is a great effort for a great cause, by members of one of the best loved rugby clubs in the country. You can sponsor them through Just Giving at:
