New Head Coach Announced for Richmond Women
Richmond Rugby is delighted to announce that Ross Doneghan will take on the Head Coach role for Richmond Women. Ross will take over after Mark Cadogan stepped down after a successful top-three finish last season.
The former forwards coach had this to say upon his appointment "It's a really exciting time to be part of the Richmond Women’s team, and the club as a whole. The determination and commitment by the squad to continually improve and develop is inspiring to everyone involved down at Richmond. We start our preseason on July 2nd and everyone is excited to get out on the paddock and have some fun".
"Our decision to bring our 2nd XV out of hibernation is one fuelled by offering the best club experience possible. We want as many people as possible wearing red, black and gold come game day. We want to continue building a hotbed of women's rugby talent and having a 2nd XV is the next layer in that foundation".
Head of Rugby, Rob Powell had this to add "We are delighted that Ross accepted the offer of a promotion to Head Coach of the women’s section. Ross has had a huge impact in his time at the club which has pushed the standard up and we are confident he will continue to push the programme on as we look to grow the section with a second team".
New Attack and Backs Coach Announced
Richmond Rugby is also delighted to announce that Abi Chamberlain will be joining as the new attack and backs coach for the forthcoming season for Richmond Women.
Abi has commented "I can't wait to be back at Richmond, I loved my time here as a player and I can't wait to be a part of this club again. We have an extraordinary group of players and I can't wait to work with them!".
Richmond Women, Head Coach, Ross Doneghan has said “Having Abi join our rugby family at Richmond is a huge lift not only for our performance on the field but also for our development as a club. Abi has been to the very top as a player and brings a wealth of knowledge to the backline. We are all super excited to work with Abi and I know the girls are chomping at the bit to get learning from her".
Head of Rugby, Rob Powell had this to add “It’s great to get Abi back to the club. She brings a wealth of experience having played internationally and for many years with Richmond in the top league. She has a great rugby brain and is going to add lots of value and insight for the players”.
