Richmond Rugby’s Easter Camps a Huge Success

Richmond Rugby’s Easter Camps a Huge Success

Josh Carpenter15 Apr - 10:40

Richmond Rugby’s Community team delivered an outstanding two weeks of Multi-Sport Easter Camps.

Across the Easter break, we welcomed young participants aged 5-16 for an action packed holiday programme. Demand was high, with stacked groups for the majority of the easter break, and peak days seeing over 30 children enjoying a full day of sport at the Richmond Athletic Ground. Blessed with dry weather throughout, the camps had a real summer feel, creating the perfect environment for outdoor activity and fun.

Children took part in a wide variety of sports, including Rugby, football, netball, cricket, athletics and more, ensuring there was something for everyone. The camps were led by Head of Community and current 1st XV prop Luke Spring, alongside other Richmond first-team players, providing a unique opportunity for young players to learn from elite athletes.

The programme catered to all experience levels. Younger participants focused on fundamental skills such as throwing, catching, and game-based learning, while older groups built on existing abilities and explored new sports they may not have tried before. Throughout, the emphasis remained on developing skills, building confidence, and making new friends in a welcoming environment.

Luke Spring reflected on the success of the camps: “It’s been a fantastic two weeks for the club. Seeing so many children of different ages and abilities enjoying sport together has been brilliant. The energy, enthusiasm and willingness to try new things have really stood out.

We’re proud to create an environment where kids can develop their skills, grow in confidence, and most importantly, have fun. With demand continuing to grow, we’re really excited to launch our biggest-ever programme of summer camps.”
